The BBC Proms in the Park, Scotland, was broadcast from Glasgow Green, a people’s park in the centre of the city.
The project management of this event was a unique challenge encompassing the requirements of the BBC and its broadcast facilities, the public, Glasgow City Council agencies, the Scottish Symphony Orchestra and many guest musicians and artists.
Management of the public space in conjunction with the BBC and the Local Authority was difficult as the build and breakdown schedules were tight due to budget constraints.
Our site team liaised closely with Glasgow City Council, the BBC Outside Broadcast team, musicians, artists and contractors, to put together a seamless schedule which worked at all levels.
Budgets and costs were tightly controlled by our accounts team who always delivered the final figures on target.
The Glasgow Proms were a huge success for the attending public and TV audience, closely rivalling the London production from Hyde Park.
